VISION

Establishing a society free from all forms of exploitation, where every child has a secure childhood and enough resources to become a healthy individual, where its women live free from gender-based violence in all walks of life and the youth is guided by the feelings of togetherness and entrepreneurship.

PHILOSOPHY

It is our belief that informed knowledge is the key to bring social change, and not by limiting it into the hands of few. We believe in collective efforts and democratic leadership wherein the participation of underprivileged and marginalized sections of society can be ensured.

OBJECTIVES

  • Protection, promotion and support of all forms of human rights.
  • Ensuring hundred percent infant survival rate, hunger and malnourishment free childhood.
  • Ensuring quality education for children, and hundred percent school enrolment.
  • Ensuring abuse free society for children, women and weaker sections of the society.
  • Supporting inclusiveness of women and youth in creating livelihoods and sustainable economic development.
  • Assisting socially excluded and deprived communities to seek social justice. 
  • Ensuring clean water, sanitation, proper hygiene standards among all members of community.
  • Ensuring proper health standards, timely vaccinations among children and women and raising awareness regarding stigmatised diseases.
  • Developing the capacities of community-based organizations/groups to sustain self-development and initiate income generation activities.

Dr. Shambhunath Singh Research Foundation is a secular, not for profit development organization, which was established by the group of development professionals receiving its inspiration from the renowned literary figure, culturist and social activist late Dr. Shambhunath Singh. The foundation of the organization was laid by the former Prime Minister of India Mr. Chandra Shekhar, on November 9, 1989, while formally registered under section 21 of the ‘Societies Registration Act’ on December 31st, 1991.

In these three decades long journey, SRF has led many interventions on the humanitarian issues, it has been, working towards ending hunger and malnutrition, ensuring healthy lives and promotes well-being, providing quality education, promoting gender equality, assisting in sustainable economic growth, reducing inequalities, establishing mechanisms to provide access to adequate, safe and affordable housing, promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for all and finally building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Over the time, the organization has collaborated with many national and international organizations to support Projects in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Some of the Ministries and organizations include Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment-GoI, Ministry of Women and Child Development-GoI, Ministry of Labour-GoI, National Commission for Women, UNICEF, Plan India, Action Aid, Child Rights and You(CRY), Label Step-Max Haveller Foundation,Switzerland, PACT Inc. (USA), Jensaikyo Foundation, Japan, etc.

We believe in achievement of sustainable goals through promotion of collective efforts, hence we have constituted various groups and federations across Uttar-Pradesh. Some of the milestones includes:

  • federation of women group which is known as “Savitriba Phule Swayam Siddha Samiti”, operational in Bhadohi
  • groups of children known as “Bal Paharua” in urban and rural areas across the SRF’s operational area.

“Hum Bachche” a state level forum of children’s collective which provides representation of ground level issues raised by children themselves, all these efforts creates space for child autonomy.

In the journey of two decades, SRF has undertaken various interventions on issues related with child rights & development, women empowerment, gender issues, human rights, urban development, environment protection etc. in collaboration with a number of national and international organizations including Government of India, NCW, UNICEF, Plan India, Action Aid, CRY, Step Foundation, PACT Inc. (USA), Zenseikyo Foundation, UPSACS, UPHSDP, HLFPPT, Mahila Kalyan Nigam, etc.
